However centre-back Sakho has been without a club since leaving Montpellier by mutual consent last November.

The 34-year-old has now reportedly held talks with Georgian top-flight outfit Torpedo Kutaisi.

Managed by former Blackburn boss Steve Kean, the four-time champions want Sakho to attract other big-name players to the club.

Kean was hugely unpopular among Blackburn fans and was subject to several protests until he left in 2012.

The former Swansea player has since taken jobs in Singapore, Greece, Australia and now Georgia.

Kutaisi is the third-biggest city in Georgia, the nation based by the Black Sea and bordering Russia, Turkey and Armenia.

Sakho, Liverpool's £18million buy from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, has been offered a two-year deal with the option of a third season.

Torpedo are understood to have offered the defender a raft of business opportunities and benefits for his family in addition to a bumper salary.

The 29-cap international made 80 senior appearances during his Anfield stay, scoring three goals.

Paris-born Sakho went on to play 75 times for Palace following his 2017 switch, then returned home three years ago to join Montpellier.

However he left the Ligue 1 outfit after an altercation with coach Michel Der Zakarian last autumn.

The defender opted against joining a new club in January despite receiving several offers.
