McVitie's bizarre new Jaffa Cakes flavour is taking heat away from the never-ending debate about their biscuit/ cake status.
The food giant has gotten uber creative with its cult favourite baked item, once again dividing opinions amongst shoppers. Since first launching more than 90 years ago, Jaffa Cake has tended to stay true to its iconic tangy orange filling.
McVitie's has pushed the boat out in the past, once launching a raspberry flavour Jaffa Cake. But now, the treat is available in its first-ever non-fruit flavour, inspired by one of the UK's most beloved beverages. Unfortunately, it's not beer... or a cup of Yorkshire tea.
To attract younger shoppers, Jaffa Cakes Cola Bottle have launched today (June 10) and will be available for a limited time. You can pick up a 10-pack of the cola sweet flavoured cakes from Asda for £1.25.
The new flavour will also be available in a cake bar format, which will hit Tesco shelves on July 22 followed by more supermarkets in August. These will retail at £1.80 for a pack of five. McVitie's MD Adam Woolf said the launch was in response to the "huge appetite among the next generation of snacking shoppers for something genuinely new and different".

Reviewing the new treats on social media, one food account wrote: "Surprisingly the flavour worked very well, the Cola Bottle taste is spot on!" Brits flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts, and it was clear not everybody agreed.
"A flavour which makes you 'umm' at first thought but they work very well. [They're] so good," one person raved. Another agreed, writing: "They are so nice." However, others slammed the new flavour with one person dubbing it "rancid". "It's a NO from me, there were grim," added another unhappy customer.
