BEAUTY trends often go out of fashion for a good reason - but there's one noughties trick that appears to be making a comeback.

Concealer-covered lips were a sought-after look in the 2010s but left girls' lips looking "like death".

Sofia Ritchie recently hailed a dot of concealer on her lips as the "cherry on top" for creating an ombre effect .

Beauty fans on social media have also been raving about it, with one claiming she wants wear it on her wedding day.

She added: "I am obsessed with putting concealer on my lips. In my opinion, it’s the perfect lip colour for me. I’m obsessed with it."

But the return of the noughties trend has left millennials absolutely traumatised as they urge the younger generation to avoid it at all costs.

"Wait what year is it?" questioned one.

A second pleaded: "Please don’t bring this back, all the girlies walking around like they need a sip of water."

A third wrote: "We did this years ago, so you guys don’t have to."

A fourth warned: "Don’t do it. You will look like death in your photos."

A fifth echoed: "Omg OMG noooooo!!! We suffered to free you!!!!

"Please look at our old pictures and let yourself be saved by truth."

Meanwhile, a sixth cried: "I REFUSE to accept the comeback of concealer lips, absolutely NOT."

A makeup professional has also spoken out against the "drying" retro trend.

Hayley Walker, Justmylook’s in-house MUA, reveals why she won’t try the look anytime soon.

She said: “Trends are ever-changing in the beauty industry, with noughties-favourite concealer lips making a comeback this year.

"While it’s a playful makeup trend that evokes a Y2K aesthetic, using concealer on lips may not be the best idea.

“Concealer sets on the skin and is designed for maximum coverage and long-lasting makeup wear, and while this is great for covering blemishes and brightening the skin, this feature can lead to dry lips.

"Our face contains sebaceous glands that produce oil to protect the skin from harmful pathogens and lock in moisture, so while this area can withstand concealer, lips don’t have oil glands, which can cause them to dry up.

"The mattifying effect of concealer can also lead to creases in the corners of the lips, resulting in an unflattering look.

Offering up an alternative, she added: “To achieve this makeup trend to match the lips to your skin tone without the risk of them drying up, opt for a hydrating nude lipstick.

"Using a product tailored to lips ensures a smooth, flawless-looking finish, and using a nude shade that best matches your skin tone allows you to delve into this nostalgic trend."
