Erling Haaland revealed the truth about his apparent anger at Pep Guardiola after being subbed off despite scoring four goals.

The Norwegian goal machine was spotted having words with the Manchester City boss when exiting the pitch at the Etihad Stadium after 82 minutes where he bagged four goals in their 5-1 mauling of Wolves last Saturday (May 4).

For many, Haaland's seemingly annoyance of not getting the opportunity to score even more goals just demonstrated the elite mentality that rests in the 23-year-old but the reigning Premier League Golden Boot holder put an end to the discussion about the substitution.

In an appearance on the Men In Blazers podcast, the striker revealed that his anger on the sideline was nothing to do with being subbed off for Julian Alvarez, who scored just three minutes after coming on.

"I was mad because [of] something completely different, it was nothing about that," the Norway international admitted.

"I was super happy that Julian [Alvarez] came on and scored as well, of course I would love to score more goals but I wasn't mad or anything about getting subbed off, I'm happy for the guy that got substituted on for me and that's how it is."

Having won the Treble in his debut City campaign last season, a Premier League and FA Cup double is on the cards for his sophomore season in Manchester as his team-mate Jack Grealish spoke on the intense togetherness that exists within the City dressing room as they chase further silverware in their reign of dominance under Guardiola.

"I've said in a lot of interviews that, for me, the team I'm in now - and especially last year - it's just unbelievable, the togetherness we have," the England international said.

"Over the years, there have been so many top teams in the Premier League that haven't done what we've done. That's something we had so much of and we've got it this season as well.

"With the experience we have and the quality we have, we don't really doubt ourselves."
