Davina McCall was caught out by a lie detector live on air – exposing her true feelings about her boyfriend in the process.
The Big Brother legend is stepping in for Amanda Holden on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston this week. This morning, she tried out a lie detector and things didn't exactly go to plan.
Jason, the technician, started by pointing out that Davina was '"looking very nervous". She said it was a "horrible feeling" knowing they’re measuring her sweat glands, blood pressure, and temperature. The technician responded by telling her it was "blood flow", but Davina, cracking a joke, said "my blood flow, my bum".
Starting off with a tough question, Jason asked: "Do you have a favourite child?” Davina replied: "God, what a start, haha!" But the tough technician kept her on track, saying: "Yes or no answer, please, Davina. I’m going to push you for a yes or no answer, please."
She said: "Well, I’ve always told them that they’re all my favourite child; they all think that they’re each my favourite child, but I am going to tell you – no." Much to the presenter's relief, Jason responded by saying we're "off to a good start", as she had been truthful, although Jamie was "hoping there’d be an electric shock or something".
Davina McCall still talks to three Big Brother stars and felt bad for Jade GoodyIt wasn't long until she faced a trickier question, however. The next was: "Has there been a Masked Singer contestant you've never heard of?" Davina laughed, prompting a further scolding from the strict technician as she nervously admitted that her "pits are going."
Jamie reminded her that "we’ve got to remain calm", but it was clear that Davina understood, as she said: "I can’t lie, right? You’ll know." Another telling off from Jason followed before she said "yes", with the technician confirming that "she told the truth". He followed up by asking her: "Can you tell us who it was?"
Davina added: "Sometimes, they take off the mask. No, because I probably can't even remember who they were because I didn't know who they were in the first place! Joel (Dommett) will have to say their name, and I'll go, "oh great!" But somebody on the panel will know who they are."
Jason then asked: "Has your boyfriend ever given you a hairstyle you hated?" It would appear that Davina wasn't entirely comfortable with this line of questioning either, as the technician had to remind her to put her hand back on the sensor.
Jamie said: "She's trying to cheat; she’s trying to cheat." Davina replied: "Never hated one, I don’t think. No." It turned out to be a lie, and Jason said: "That is the biggest jump of the lot."
In another part of the programme, Davina said the "most rewarding" television project she ever worked on was Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace, which returned to our screens this week. Jamie said it was the "most tear-inducing show on TV."
Davina said: "So I think the thing about the foundlings in Born Without A Trace – so they are people that were left somewhere, generally speaking, safe and wrapped up but with no idea who their parents are – I think the most devastating sometimes is not knowing what day you were born on. Sometimes, you are discovered, and you might be two or three weeks old.
"They don't know. And you've got no idea when your birthday was, who your parents were; you've got no names, you've got no file, papers, nothing. Ans (And) they’ve grown up thinking, ‘I will never know who I am or where I come from; I will never see family or anyone that looks like me'.
"And on Born Without A Trace, we’ve got DNA detectives who take their DNA and then painstakingly go through and try and find them someone that they are related to."
