Erik ten Hag has told his critics that they don't have a clue about football.

Manchester United’s beleaguered boss goes into the final week of the Premier League season fearing for his job following co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s failure to give him his backing - and even a victory over rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup Final on May 25 may not save him.

‌Ten Hag has also been heavily criticised by United legends like Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand. But the Dutchman insists that his task has been made impossible by a crippling injury list.

‌And he has ridiculed his detractors by saying they don’t know anything about the game - or his job as manager.

Ten Hag said: “I see some comments - but either they don’t have any knowledge of football or they don't have any knowledge about managing a football team, or they just aren’t up to it.

“I think there are many people who see the problems - and they are patient. I think the fans have the patience. You’ve seen it many times.”

Ten Hag appears doomed after his team’s 13th defeat of the Premier League campaign saw them hammered 4-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Reds face an Arsenal team looking to prevent City from winning a record fourth successive title at Old Trafford. And they then entertain Newcastle on Wednesday before a final-day trip to Brighton on Sunday.

Ten Hag’s hand has once again been weakened by another injury to £60 million midfielder Mason Mount. But Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay are all back in full training.‌

Ten Hag warned the Gunners that United have no interest in the outcome of the title race - and believes the Old Trafford fans will also be up for the visit of Mikel Arteta’s side.

He said: “I would say the fans always support us. We are there together, we are unified and definitely we need them because we are in a very difficult situation lately.

“We will put a team out with a good plan and I am sure the players will fight - and I hope the fans will back us again.”
