US musician Kevin Jonas has revealed he had a cancerous mole removed from his face.

The 36-year-old, who is one third of the pop band Jonas Brothers alongside brothers Nick and Joe, encouraged his almost five million followers to "get your moles checked" after he underwent surgery. "So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head," he said in a video shared on Instagram.

Referencing the mole, he said: "That is a actual little skin cancer guy that just started to grow, and now I have to get surgery to remove it. So, here we go." Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a type of non-melanoma skin cancer that starts in the top layer of skin and can often be easily treated, according to the NHS website.

After the procedure, Kevin said: "Now it's time to heal." He urged his fans to get health checkups as he said: "Make sure to get those moles checked, people."

"Friendly reminder to get your moles checked," Kevin captioned the video on social media. "You just scared us a bunch!!! Happy to know you're recovering, I love you so much and wish you a lot of health," one of the singer's fans wrote underneath the video on Instagram.

"Thank God it was early detected. You got me shaking! Get well soon lovey, praying for you," another told the star, with a third adding: "Oh Kevin, sending lots of love your way. So glad you were able to catch it so soon. Hope you recover fast." Another gushed: "Praying for you!!! Glad you are ok."

Last year, Kevin's wife shared how she often compares herself to her sister-in-laws during a candid podcast conversation. Danielle Jonas opened up about feeling like the odd one out among the Jonas Brothers' wives during her chat on the LadyGang podcast in June.

"The two boys married somebody who, they're actresses, they're out there everyone knows them. And I feel like I'm Danielle, and it's hard," she confessed. Danielle tied the knot with Kevin back in 2009 after meeting him on a dreamy Bahamas vacation two years earlier. The couple share two daughters, Alena, nine, and Valentine, six.

As a jewellery designer and former hairdresser, Danielle expressed a desire for more recognition: "It's like, 'oh I wanna have something else to my name too.'". Kevin, along with his brothers Joe and Nick, shot to fame with their band, the Jonas Brothers, which kicked off in 2005. They dropped their seventh album, The Album, in May 2023.

At the time of Danielle's podcast chat, Joe was hitched to Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, while Nick's wife is Bollywood sensation Priyanka Chopra, now Priyanka Chopra Jonas, known for her role in Quantico. Feeling overshadowed, Danielle shared her longing to stand equal with her famous sisters-in-law: "'Cause then when I'm with the other girls, I feel just less than sometimes. It's weird," she revealed on the podcast.

In a podcast with his wife of 14 years, Kevin declared that he shared similar feelings with brothers Nick and Joe, stating: "I feel the same way with Nick and Joe, right? Like solo careers, movies, all this stuff. It's like everyone has to find their place." Following the Jonas Brothers' split years earlier, Nick embarked on a solo career while Joe fronted his own band, DNCE. Kevin chose to step away from the limelight, except for the short-lived reality series Married to Jonas, in which he starred alongside his spouse.
