McDonald's is notorious for constantly rejigging its menu - but there are a whole bunch of 'secret' items you probably never knew about.
Recently, the food chain announced the return of its iconic breakfast wrap only to pull it from the menu two days later due to 'unprecedented demand'. Luckily, customers were too busy trying out the new McSpicy x Frank's RedHot burger, as well two delicious pink desserts to get too upset.
But a former employee says there are a bunch of secret treats staff will make for themselves - as they get creative with popular ingredients, including a McPizza!
Some of the items were specific to McDonald's Australia, but others would definitely work here - and we wish we could try them. The person claiming to have worked for the fast food company shared the secrets on Reddit back in 2020, responding to someone asking about McDonald's cheeseburger seasoning in Australia.
The original post read: "So I live in the US and recently was watching a stream from Australia and saw the commercial for McDonald’s that included a new regional seasoning of cheeseburger seasoning salt for the fries. My friends and I are in desperate need of this seasoning. If I can find a truly patriotic Australian to do me the biggest favor of mailing me this seasoning, I would be truly grateful."
Former McDonald's worker shares best money-saving hack - but there's a catch
The former McDonald's employee replied to the post, explaining this item is known as Angus Fries. They went on to reveal three other hidden menu items, writing: "As an ex Macca's funployee, here's a couple of hidden menu options. Angus Fries: Unsalted fries dusted with the Angus beef seasoning from the grill.
"Strawberry Sprite: Sprite post mix with four squirts/one shot of Strawberry Thickshake Syrup. Mega MAC: Same build as a big Mac, but made with quarter pounder meat and buns plus an extra slice of cheese on the heel. Mc Muffin Pizzas: Grilled muffin halves with sauce, 'premium' cheese, choice of toppings."
This isn't the first we've heard of a McDonald's secret menu. Back in 2019, a manager at McDonald's revealed on Reddit how customers could order from it, getting items like the Land, Air and Sea burger. He wrote: "You can order from the 'Secret Menu'. Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove or change ingredients by special request. These are called 'grill orders' (i.e. Big Mac no pickle).
"The items on the 'secret menu' weren't invented by anyone officially at McDonald's, it's just a random persons guide to burgers you could potentially 'hack' at McDonald's. Order one and the workers might not know it by name (i.e. Land, Air and Sea burger or the McGangBang) but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it's just another 'grill order' that we can make up."
