Birmingham City’s corporate fans have been clobbered with a price hike of over 60 per cent - after the club was relegated to League One.
The prawn sandwich brigade has seen the cost of their seats rocket following the Blues’ demotion to the third tier for the first time since 1994. Supporters in the Legends Lounge received their renewal details this week and were astonished to find the cost had ramped up to £2,925 - from £1,800 in the Championship.
New owners Knighthead Capital have invested significant sums in re-vamping the corporate areas at St Andrew’s.
As part of their off-field offering, tired areas of the neglected stadium - parts of which were unusable before the takeover 13 months ago - have been given a major uplift with extensive refurbishment. But corporate punters are now watching a lower-grade product - yet they are being asked to pay 62.5% more for the privilege.
Several Midlands’ clubs - including Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers - have faced a backlash from supporters after seeing the price of their season-tickets jump. But Birmingham have ploughed on with their plans for their corporate fans and are demanding almost two-thirds more this season - with the club now in League One.

A club statement read: “The club is spending up to £15m this summer making improvements to St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park and the two training grounds.
“A significant investment is being made in our corporate hospitality offerings. We have upgraded what used to be the Legends, Jasper Carrott and Boardroom club. And we have created a new hospitality facility in the Gil Merrick.
“The catering and service for all the new lounges will be provided by Levy, the company that is responsible for Wimbledon, Twickenham, Tottenham Hotspur and a host of other Premier League clubs. The pricing for each one reflects the excellent experience our fans will enjoy.
“For those who do not require that level of hospitality, we are able to offer and enjoyable experience in the Wiseman and Captain’s club, both in the Main Stand.
“We will also be offering general admission fans the opportunity to enjoy the new Box to Box bar and food area in the Kop St and and the new permanent Fan Zone close to the Tilton and Main Stands.
“The goal is to be able to offer all our supporters an experience that meets their needs and delivers excellent value for money.”
