Son Heung-min has dismissed rumours surrounding a potential exit from Tottenham Hotspur, adding that the speculation has made him "uncomfortable".

Son, 31, is entering the final year of his four-year contract with Spurs, who have an option to extend his deal by a year. Yet, while the South Korea star led the team in goals scored with 17 in 35 matches, speculation has surrounded the Spurs skipper's future after rumours of a shock reunion with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce emerged.

The Turkish giants, now armed with Mourinho at the helm, are targeting a big summer spending spree and reports claimed that the former Tottenham boss was considering linking back up with Son. Spurs are set to undergo a significant rebuild this summer after Ange Postecoglou's first season as head coach.

However, the forward seemed to shoot down suggestions that he could be one to potentially exit the club this summer. “I have not had any exchanges with the club,” Son said after helping South Korea to a 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over China in Seoul.

“I don't have anything to say at this point. I feel a little uncomfortable with the situation. I am going to keep doing my best for Tottenham. I still have terms left on my contract. Money is not important to me. The most important thing is to play in a league that I enjoy playing in. I have so much more I want to accomplish in the Premier League.”

While Tottenham missed out on Champions League football next season by just two points after a rocky ending to the most recent campaign, Son moved up to fifth in the list of Spurs' all-time scorers after he lifted his tally to 162 goals in 408 appearances for the club.

Having joined the club in 2015, Son relished his joint-second highest goal tally last season with 17 league goals, behind only his 2021-22 season during which the forward notched a staggering 23 league goals. Even so, there were some frustrating moments for the forward as he navigated a season blighted by injuries to key players in the squad.
