Tom Grennan has shared a raw admission about his mental health.
The chart-topper, 29, has never shied away from opening up about his struggles and believes that by using his platform, he will be able to help fans who are experiencing similar struggles. Speaking candidly, the Oh Please musician bravely shared at one point, he believed the world was against him.
Bedford-born Tom previously stated that he sees music as his "therapy", having also teamed up with the NHS for their Help campaign surrounding mental health. Speaking to broadcaster Roman Kemp, the musician said: "Something dramatically happened to me where I just found myself in this sinking hole.
"I couldn't get out of bed, I thought the whole world was against me. I thought I wasn't good enough, I never had been somebody who would talk about my feelings, especially to my friends and not to my parents, either. So then I started to just write little notes in a notepad and then picked up a guitar.
"And I was like, singing these lyrics that I was writing that was really telling myself what's going on. I think that's where I then, we're talking about connection, a real connection happened between me and my Mum." Tom went on to add: "I could really open up to my Mum and start talk about what was going on.
Sarah Lancashire feared telling TV bosses about 'debilitating depression battle'"And then like, I went to therapy and I found somebody who really understood what I was going through and how it helped me direct these thoughts and put them into context." Speaking previously to the Mirror, Tom explained that talking openly about his mental health struggles "helps" him.
He added: "I know a lot of people still have this thing of feeling ashamed of opening up and talking about it, so if I can be somebody who helps, even if it's one person to stand up and say 'I'm not doing well', then I'm doing something good. For me, mental health, I feel like I struggle every day but it's finding routines and ways of getting out of that mentality and trying to better myself, to better my day which then helps my thought process."
The musician recently tied the knot with his long-term Danniella Carraturo. The couple said "I do" surrounded by some of their closest friends and family during a romantic getaway to Ibiza last month. Confirming the news, Tom took to social media to share a snap from the day, alongside his wife as they stood together. Captioning his upload, he penned: "Life starts now."
