This is the horror moment a brawl breaks out at a British-run pub on the Costa Brava as a group of men attack each other with bar stools and a baseball bat.

Footage filmed at the Fighting Cocks pub in L'Estartit, Girona, Spain, shows a brave English barmaid shouting "Move, get out of the f------ bar" as the attackers target a man beside her who police sources described today as a customer. The victim was filmed using a bin to protect himself as one of the assailants, who had a hoodie drawn up around his face, tried to hit him with a weapon that appeared to be a small baseball bat.

A man in shorts and a sports top tried to stop the violent pair, who were part of a group of three men described as Moroccans, shouting "Stop" in English before closing the door behind them as he yelled the same again in Spanish after they fled the scene. The shocking incident happened at the popular British drinking spot over the weekend.

The pub, which has a mixed clientele and has been around for decades, was open for business as usual yesterday. The bar's British owner said last night: "It was pretty bad but fortunately no one was hurt and very little damage done and we'd prefer not to comment beyond that."

Sandra, the blonde woman who was behind the bar as the attack unfolded and was recently described by the pub's owners on social media as "the best barmaid in Estartit", was unavailable for comment. Police said today they were aware of the incident but confirmed no arrests had been made.

Well-placed sources said no one, including the victims or anyone from the bar, had filed a formal complaint. One said: "A couple of customers at the bar, a man and a woman, were confronted by three Moroccan men. The male who was targeted took refuge behind the bar when he came under physical attack. The woman he was with suffered minor cuts but there were no serious injuries. Another said: "The pub was caught up in what happened. Apparently there was another confrontation between the Moroccan men and the guy they attacked elsewhere in Estartit the following night."
