In-demand Leigh prop Tom Amone says he will know soon about where he’ll be playing in 2025.

The powerhouse forward, 27, is in scintillating form and attracting plenty of interest. Out of contract at the end of the season, he’s linked with a return to the NRL with South Sydney and Canterbury Bulldogs among those understood to be keen. Leigh are desperate to keep Amone who has developed into one of Super League’s top props since joining them from Wests Tigers two-and-a-half years ago.

He helped them win promotion from the Championship in his debut campaign and then claim the Challenge Cup and reach the play-offs last season. when he was rightly named in the Dream Team. Even in a side that has struggled this time around, the explosive Aussie has excelled. Asked if his future is sorted yet, Amone said: “No, I’m not sure about what’s happening.

"I’m still waiting for my manager. I’ll just give it a few more weeks and see what my options are. I’ll just wait and see. Nothing’s been offered. I’m just taking it week by week and hopefully I can put a few good performances in.”

An NRL return seems the most likely outcome but Amone admitted there’s “still some communication there” with Leigh so hasn’t ruled out staying. Leopards, who have tied down fellow forward Jack Hughes for another year in 2025, have a free weekend after being knocked out of the Cup. But Amone was at his juggernaut best again as Adrian Lam’s side blitzed Salford 40-12 on Friday.

Leigh had drawn against struggling Castleford previously having seen a big lead hauled in. However, they ensured they didn’t let history repeat itself, producing a superb second half performance after being 16-6 ahead against Salford at the break. Amone admitted: “It’s good to come back and get a win after nearly letting the game before slip.

“The boys responded well. Salford are a team that throw the ball around and our d [defence] in the middle and on the edges, especially our right edge from last week [Castleford], were on point.

“A couple of times this year, we’ve been leading at half-time and we’ve just not had the energy to finish off the game. This week we got into the sheds and we knew we’d been pretty good and it was a case of making sure we went on and took the win.

“The goal for us now is just to kick on. Hopefully we can get a few win on the road.”

On his own brilliant form, he insisted: “I feel like it’s just the boys around me who are helping me play good. I can’t take too much credit.”
