I have never had a spray tan before. When I think of them I am often reminded of Ross Geller's terrible attempt of one but when I got to try one out that's endorsed by Paris Hilton I jumped at the chance.
Having seen the video of Paris holding her baby daughter London fresh off the back of a Tan Luxe spray tan I knew I was in good hands. The brand has a number of different products available but I went to Selfridges to get a spray tan using The Future.
I was a little bit nervous as it was my first time getting one done but I was instantly set at ease by the spray tan artist in the booth. There were clear instructions emailed to me prior to getting my tan done which meant I could avoid using Dove lotion and make sure I was doing everything right.

Shoppers swear by £15 'must have' toner that clears skin up 'straight away'The first thing I noticed was how nice the tan actually smells, none of that biscuit smell. It smelled a lot like a holiday with its 'Pink Sands' fragrance (Cassis, Violet, and White Leather).
My skin felt really moisturised from the product which was a huge relief as you're advised not to moisturise beforehand and I typically moisturise at least twice a day. It's got a blend of Tri & Tetra Peptides and a Hydra-Boost complex deeply hydrates skin as well as supporting collagen production and elasticity for a more youthful look. It dried down quite quickly too although there was a tacky feeling to it.
I was advised to leave it on for at least three hours - although longer is encouraged - to allow the tan to develop. It uses Triple Tan+ Technology so you can use the same product for a range of different shades, it just depends how long you leave it on for. Perhaps it was a risky move but I wore light grey joggers to get my spray tan and I didn't see any transfer onto my clothes.
I waited six hours to shower and at that point I did see tan lines around where my underwear had been. It made me feel like I'd just got back from holiday and gave me a confidence boost - that said I probably should have left it on for longer as there wasn't a massive change to my complexion.
My skin did have a sun kissed glow to it that I really liked as I've felt quite pale with the weather recently. I am really impressed with the results and how easy it was to use - and I'm looking forward to showing off my glowing skin on sunny days.
There are other tan mists on the market which claim to give you a similar, sunkissed glow, such as St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Face Mist(£19.20 on offer at Look Fantastic) or Tan-Luxe The Water Hydrating Self-Tan Water (£34) both retailing less than the Tan Luxe version. Or, if you are looking for more of a face tanning solution, there are so many out there to choose from, and Reviews Editor Stacey Dutton tried & tested a handful of them here.
You don't need to go to a tanning booth to get the same results though, you can buy The Future for £39 across a number of sites. It comes with the tanning spray and a mitt for you to smooth it out at home. You can find it for £39 on Selfridges, LookFantastic, Harrods, Amazon and more.
