She recommended aloe, glycerin, and beta-glucan as a few alternatives.
Overall, she said to go for "something moisturizing."
After applying your eye cream, she said to use petroleum jelly on your eyelashes.
The Reddit user added that serum hydration and sealing with petroleum jelly will nourish and strengthen your lashes.
She called it the "key to beautiful, long, natural lashes."
"In addition, applying Vaseline with a bottle brush or your fingers gives the effect of having applied a natural mascara," she added.
If you don't want to use Vaseline, try a few other oil options.
She suggested classic castor oil or black castor oil which has been proven to work well.
Sweet almond or argan oil also is a good alternative.

She advised against olive oil or coconut oil because they are both "too rich" and are known to clog pores.
Natural oils weren't the only thing she suggested staying away from.
The Redditor said eyelash growth serums like Revitalash or BabeLASH have prostaglandin in them.
This chemical can lead to fat loss which causes sunken eyes, and discoloration, and can change your eye color.
"These are recognized side effects and not so uncommon," she said.
Overall, she said to be gentle with your eyelashes on a daily basis.
She said "Do not rub them" because even doing that simple task could damage them.
To support lash and brow growth, she recommended a supplement comprised of collagen, biotin, or MSM, which plays an important role in making collagen and glucosamine.
"Some people have found that their eyelashes grow better and faster, but, beware, they increase the growth of all hair," she explained.
