WORKING in a supermarket is no easy task, from long hours, weird shift patterns and of course, irritating customers.

And one Tesco employee has claimed there's one thing customers do that drive them insane.

Taking to social media, the employee revealed their biggest pet peeve when it came to customers, but are you guilty of doing it?

Taking to the Tesco subreddit, the employee explained the most annoying thing plenty of 'lazy' customers do.

They wrote that the worst thing shoppers do: "Customers that leave frozen items on the shelf, when the freezer is right next to them."

And it seemed plenty of people who worked in supermarkets agreed it was a massive problem.

"How lazy do you need to be to just to open the freezer and put the item inside. I found three ice creams which were on the shelf right beside the freezer," the Tesco worker continued.

While it obviously makes their job more difficult and adds extra work to an already busy shift, supermarket workers revealed it was a bad habit for more than one reason.

Not only did many agree it was a problem - they also revealed that cheeky customers often do it even when staff are right next to them.

And that's not all, many were annoyed as they often have to throw away the food once it had happened.

Although most customers don't think about this part, ditching frozen food half way across the store means it obviously defrosts, and can't be sold again.

And it doesn't just count for frozen goods being left out, fresh food being ditched in the freezer also causes the same problems.

The thread went viral on Reddit with many workers agreeing it was a pet peeve of theirs.

One person wrote: "What annoys me is that these days a lot more customers will actually dump the items right in front of you and they don’t even care."

Another commented: "I get your frustration, trust me! I work in frozen and if I had a penny for every time someone leaves a non frozen item in the freezers I'd be rolling in it."

"They even do it right in front of you. So tempted to put it back in their trolley when they’re not looking lol," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "People leave their brain in a basket at the door when entering the shop, at least that‘s what it seems like."

"The amount of times I've seen customers put fresh veg in the freezer because the frozen stuff tends to be more in quantity because they can't be bothered holding onto them to put them back in the fresh section which is by the tills is mind-boggling,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “And what's with fridges' and freezers' doors? Everybody leaves them open, even the staff members. Just how hard is it to slide the b**ody thing?"
