William's time away from home shows Kate 'stepping in right direction' - expert

Princess Kate has taken a step “in the right direction” in her fight against cancer judging on Prince William ’s body language, a royal expert has said.

The heir to the throne was on a trip to Cornwall where he engaged with several members of the public who were keen to say hello. The official visit included an overnight stop as it lasted two days. But the night away was his first since wife Kate revealed her shock diagnosis in a video in March. And according to experts the Prince’s stay shows his wife is making progress as she continues to recover from the disease.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK!: “It's great news William feels relaxed enough to stay away for a night. I've no doubt Catherine's parents will be staying with her, but even so it must be a step in the right direction. Hopefully Catherine is feeling stronger every day and, with the sun now shining, she'll be able to enjoy the great outdoors which, for her, has always been restorative."

She added: “William's head and heart must be bursting with all that he has on his plate right now: his wife's cancer treatment, his father's illness, his children growing up fast, the pressure for him to take on more royal duties, the prospect of becoming King earlier than he might ever have wanted."

During his visit, William spent time on the Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast which are a special place for the family. William and Kate are known to have with , Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The future King has a long history with the islands, having holidayed there as a boy with his parents Charles and Diana and younger brother Harry.

Prince William was championing the cause of homelessness during his visit to the Duchy of Cornwall, making stops at the Nansledan Estate. His Royal engagements also included a meet-up with hospital staff on the Isles of Scilly and a spontaneous volleyball match with young lifeguards on Fistral Beach. While mingling with the locals, William shared an update about the , revealing: "She's doing well, thanks," and went on to share: "The children are very jealous I am here... Maybe we might come later in the year."
