Kate tells candid lessons learned from time off in bear-all statement

Kate, the Princess of Wales, has told how she learned several lessons during her time away from public-facing duties receiving preventative cancer treatment.

The Princess, 42, stepped back from royal duties in March after it was revealed that tests found cancer "had been present" when she had abdominal surgery earlier that year. She said at the time that her family had endured "an incredibly tough couple of months" and praised medical teams for taking care of her as she received the treatment.

In a new statement released on Friday evening, Kate revealed the treatment is "ongoing", and would continue "for a few more months". She added that she is continuing to adjust to the situation, and has learned several valuable lessons from the experience.

The Princess said: "My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home. I'm looking forward to attending The King's Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.

"Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal." Kensington Palace has built on her statement in one of its own, saying the Princess' upcoming schedule, which includes Trooping the Colour and the possibility for limited summer engagements, could be changed at the last minute.

A spokesperson for the Palace said that her presence at these events is not guaranteed as officials seek to keep her health a priority. They said her "recovery and wellbeing" would be prioritised, and that, with this in mind, any plans "may be amended at short notice".

Officials added that "contingencies" would be in place should the Princess be unable to make any of her expected appearances over the weekend. In its official note, the Palace said she had consulted with King Charles - who is also undergoing treatment for cancer - before the ceremony.
