TWO-TIME world champion Peter Wright looks unrecognisable hitting 180 at the BDO World Championship in 1995.

Snakebite, 54, competed in the event at the age of just 24, losing 3-1 in the first round to eventual champion Richie Burnett.

But many darts fans would be forgiven for not even recognising the Scot back in the day.

A clip that has re-surfaced of the 1995 clash shows Wright with an understated look - brown hair, black shirt and slender face.

That is in stark contrast to his modern day appearance - which sees him wear colourful clothes and glasses while sporting a goatee and trademark Mohawk.

Livingston-born Wright has also changed the nationality he competes for since that 1995 tournament.

He previously represented England, but changed to Scotland later on in his career.

The re-emergence of the clip led to many reacting on social media.

One fan said: "Looks like he should be a roadie for The Clash."

Another added: "Thought it was Owen Hargreaves."

While a third replied: "Back when he was English."

After the 1995 world championships, Wright packed in darts and turned to building and tyre fitting.

He continued playing in local leagues and returned to the professional scene in 2005 at the UK Open.

He first competed at the PDC World Championship in 2010, before reaching the final four years later.

His first world title triumph came in 2020 against Michael van Gerwen.

Then in 2022 he repeated the feat with victory over Michael Smith.

But he has struggled this season as he was eliminated in the second round at Ally Pally.

And with just one evening left of the regular Premier League season, he is adrift at the bottom of the table with just four points from 15 nightly events.
