Royal watchers were on tenterhooks when Prince Harry landed on UK soil last week as speculation swirled on whether a reunion with his father - or brother - was on the cards. But hopes were soon squashed as the Duke's team confirmed King Charles' diary was too jam-packed for a reunion, with William reportedly having no plans to meet up with his all-but estranged brother.
Harry and Charles last saw each other in the aftermath of the King's cancer diagnosis, and the Duke of Sussex told Good Morning America afterward he was "grateful" to have spent some time with his father. However, ahead of his recent whistlestop visit back to his home country, his spokesperson announced he wouldn't be seeing his father due to the monarch's "full programme" but that the Duke "hopes to see him soon".
Hot on the heels of his trip to the UK to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games, Harry travelled on to Nigeria accompanied by his wife Meghan, where they aimed to strengthen ties within the Invictus community. An expert has revealed that despite being "in his element" on the unofficial royal tour, there was one subtle sign that indicated the Duke may "still be processing" being back in the UK without seeing his family.
Body language specialist Darren Stanton, who formerly worked with Derbyshire Police, explained that while he was in Nigeria with his wife visiting the Lagos Polo Club, Harry seemed happy and confident, with Meghan bringing out a "great side to him".
"Harry came across as quite animated during the tour," Stanton said, on behalf of Betfair Bingo, "At one point, he was pictured holding his hands about his head as he had fun and really let go. These are all genuine from Harry and he really appeared in his element. Having Meghan by his side makes him happy as she brings out a great side to him.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next week"She puts him at ease and makes him feel more confident than ever. While Harry is used to attending engagements alone, he comes across as very relaxed when joined by Meghan."
However, the expert claimed that there were some subtle signals that indicated the Duke may have had emotions brought to the surface by his time in the UK.
"Considering Harry has just been in the UK without seeing his family, I did pick up a few signals of apprehension from him. There were instances where he was trying to hide his nervous smiles when he wasn't looking directly at Meghan. It appears that he is still processing his visit to the UK and there's no doubt it would have stirred up a few emotions internally for Harry."
Harry came to the UK to attend a special service at St. Paul's Cathedral marking 10 years of the Invictus Games, a philanthropic project he launched back in 2014 when he was still a working royal.
While none of the Royal Family attended in support of the good cause, Harry's maternal family - the Spencers - appeared in full force. One royal expert - historian Tessa Dunlop - called it "painfully ironic" that Harry was "back in London, working for a good cause, in a venue intrinsically associated with the British royal family" but without any of them in attendance.
