Hunter Biden, son of the US President, was spotted at high-profile celebrity events in Los Angeles, seemingly unfazed despite a recent federal gun conviction hanging over his head.

Despite facing a potential 25-year prison sentence after being found guilty on three felony gun charges, the President's son was first seen savouring an Italian meal in West Hollywood. He was then spotted at the screening of a new Sean Penn film, appearing to be without "a care in the world."

Pictures released by TMZ show the first-time offender entering the CAA Century City building with his wife Melissa. The couple were there to watch the new film "Daddio" which stars his friend Sean and Dakota Johnson.

Insiders report that Hunter and Melissa were initially seen enjoying a star-studded reception in the lobby, where they appeared to be in a "good mood and showed affection" while being "friendly to others". He was also spotted having a chat with Sean - and it's reported that the two had lunch together earlier in the day.

The new footage, also released by TMZ, showed Hunter with his wife Melissa, who then turns and smiles at someone next to her.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Hunter was spotted at Dan Tana's, an Italian restaurant in West Hollywood, where he and Melissa were whisked off to a private room for dinner.

His recent movements come after he was convicted by a jury earlier this week after he stood accused of three felonies stemming from a 2018 firearm purchase when he was, according to his memoir, in the throes of a crack addiction. He was accused of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.

The case went to trial following the collapse of a plea deal that would have avoided the spectacle of a trial so close to the 2024 election. Hunter pleaded not guilty and argued the Justice Department is unfairly targeting him after Republicans decried the now-defunct plea deal as special treatment for the Democratic president's son.

Hunter also faces a separate trial in California in September on charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. In a statement, the president previously said he has "boundless love" for his son, expressing his "confidence in him and respect for his strength".

Deciding to speak out about his role as a father, he said, "I am the President, but I am also a Dad," adding that he would not be commenting further on the matter. "Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today."

Prosecutors claimed Biden lied about his drug use on a federal form when purchasing a handgun in 2018. A panel of 12 jurors from Delaware delivered their judgement following three hours of deliberation.

Biden displayed little emotion as he discovered his fate on Tuesday. He stared ahead with arms crossed before turning to embrace some of the members of his legal team.
