Arsenal and Adidas have revealed the club's new home shirt for the 2024/2025 season – and it's got fans in a spin.

First thing first, Arsenal's new kit has brought back the cannon. Last seen emblazoned on an Arsenal shirt in 1989/1990, the new shirt has returned the Gunners to their roots placing a stripped-down, elegant-looking canon right over the heart of the new shirt.

The debut of the home kit, which is available to buy at Adidas, here, and the Arsenal online store, here, has been accompanied by a tribute film that aims to explore "the passion" that is invoked by fans and players alike by the iconic cannon.

The film features Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Alessia Russo, Beth Mead and Lotte Wubben-Moy, and shows the players at significant landmarks across Emirates Stadium – from the electric North Bank to the home changing room.

The significance of the cannon making its long-awaited return has not been lost on the players with Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli saying: “Since joining Arsenal, it has been clear to me how important the cannon is, to this great club and our supporters. It epitomises our spirit and we’re excited to wear it on the pitch with pride next season.”

Overall the reaction is just what Arsenal and Adidas would want, it's glowing. After all, it's the fans who can make a kit soar or plummet and, while Arsenal may be looking down the barrel of another season without a trophy, that hasn't stopped their fans from predicting big things for Mikel Arteta's team next season.

Judging by the reactions on social media, namely X, today this kit could be one for the ages for the Arsenal faithful. Taking to the platform to wax lyrical about the shirt, one fan said: "This is so beautiful. I can’t wait to rock it." Another added: "We always produce something unique in every kit".

The kit caused hope amongst another fan who, rather wistfully, said: "I hope we have beautiful memories wearing this". The social reaction goes on like that with fans gushing over the new look, however, the kit's reveal seemed to spark something within several Arsenal fans who, all on the back of the shirt being unveiled, began to make a series of bold predictions for the Gunners next season.

The forecast by fans seemed to be focused particularly on the Gunners' chances in Europe next season. Whether these Arsenal fans believe the kit has mystical powers that can propel Arsenal to spectacular highs is another thing altogether, however, this bunch of optimists were clear that this new kit will help Arsenal reach heights they've never managed before.

Taking to X, another declared: "This kit wins us our first UCL," while someone else said: "The kit in which we will win the first Champions League under Arteta". Fans didn't stop there One more said: "This kit is winning us UCL," while a further supporter chimed in with: "We’re winning our first treble with this jersey."

The shirt is available for £80 in the Home Jersey version while it's the Authentic cut that is shifting for the bigger price of £110. The kit is also available at £40 for kids and £50 for juniors.

Shirt manufacturers Adidas have claimed that the top is "clean and minimal" and the home kit’s design "embraces modernity, while honouring Arsenal’s heritage - from the club colours to the comeback of the cannon."

Arsenal also say the shirt is a "lightweight jersey that features the latest in Adidas technology and has been created in close collaboration with the Arsenal men’s and women’s teams."

The new kit will be worn on pitch for the first time by Arsenal Women when they take on Brighton in the final match of the WSL season on Saturday May 18. It is now available to buy at retailers including Adidas and the Arsenal online store.
