John Daly returns to the PGA Championship this week – 33 years after winning the competition as a final alternate.
The golf legend known for his antics on the course as much as off it will compete in the major that begins on Thursday (May 16) at the ripe old age of 58.
Aptly-named 'Wild Thing' among other nicknames such as 'The Lion' and 'Long John', it's the former that has stood the test of time during Daly's career due to, simply put, the sheer number of wild situations he's been embroiled in.
Whether it be throwing $55,000 (£43,000) out of a car window during an argument with his wife, or his audacious claim that he can easily down 35 to 40 beers in one day – the California native is never too far from action... of any kind that is.
Known to be a heavy drinker regardless of an upcoming competition, Daly once admitted in an interview with Graham Bensinger in 2016 that he would set records while drunk while opening up on his binge drinking sessions.

"It's amazing where I would go, wherever I set course records or whatever, I would be barefooted drunk," the two-time major said. "Playing golf, making every 20-footer I looked at, I used to be able to shoot pool really good when I was, had a great buzz going. But if you get me sober and play pool, I wouldn't make a ball. I don't know, it's yeah.
"I was a binge drinker, you know, and that's to me, I could go two months without drinking. But if I get on a binge, I could drink for three months or seven days or two days. It just depends, I mean when I wanted to quit drinking."

Firstly, tying the knot to Dale Crafton in 1987, before getting married to both Bettye Fulford and Paulette Dean during the 1990s, with his last marriage coming in 2001 when he wed Sherrie Miller.
The last of his nuptials caused the most media attention after the pair got into a fight at a restaurant during the Stanford St. Jude Championship, where Daly claimed that Miller had attacked him with a steak knife. The golfer turned up to the second round of the tournament with cuts and scrapes across his face, which fuelled the already colossal commotion.
