DAVID WAGNER has been sacked by Norwich City
The German manager was shown the door at Carrow Road after last night’s 4-0 thrashing by Leeds at Elland Road.
David Wagner has been sacked by NorwichCredit: PAAnd it puts an end to a troubled spell at the Canaries for Wagner who arrived in January 2023 but failed to win over the supporters who felt his style of play was negative.
Even if Wagner had led Norwich back into the Premier League, he would still probably have been given the boot by new sporting director Ben Knapper, who joined from Arsenal earlier in the season.
Norwich, who finished 13th under Wagner last season, had scraped into the play-offs with a sixth place but lost 15 games.

Knapper is now likely to look for a more progressive coach with Arsenal’s assistant boss Carlos Cuesta having been looked at.
Yet former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has been considered by he has already made it clear he would not be interested in an approach.
Knapper said of the decision: "David has operated with class and dignity throughout his period as Norwich City head coach, but we now feel that the time is right for us to move in a different direction.
“We remain committed to progressing our football club, in both the short and long-term, working through a diligent and thorough strategy.

“The appointment of a new head coach is an important one. We will now work and continue our due diligence with the view of making an appointment in the near future.”
On the playing side, Norwich are also set for an overhaul with star players Jonny Rowe and Gabriel Sara likely to attract interest.
Norwich turned down £15million from Wolves in August of last year.

The shotstopper has a market value of around £3million.
