A convict with "BEAST" tattooed across his forehead is back in court charged with a raft of counts including assault, drug and firearm offences.

Jaimes Allan Sutton, 25, appeared in court in a bid to be released from prison on bail after he was sentenced earlier this year for the charges. The court heard Sutton missed the birth of his third child while in custody and had asked for bail to help provide and care for his family.

But a judge at Sydney’s Supreme Court in Australia warned the young man about the dangers of not complying with the strict conditions of his release. The father was granted conditional bail including that he be of good behaviour, he report to police Station every day, abide by an 8pm-6am curfew and not take illegal drugs or drink alcohol. He will also have to take part in a drug addiction treatment plan and provide a $5000 (£2,600) surety.

Justice Peter Garling said that at the time he was arrested, Sutton was “heavily under the influence of methamphetamine”. He continued: "The (alleged) police facts record that the applicant could barely form his words, his speech was mumbled to the point of incoherence. If you don’t comply with them, particularly as you live in a relatively small geographical area, it’s likely that your noncompliance will come to the attention of police and you will be returned to custody. If you are, I very much doubt that anyone will grant you bail again."

Sutton had previously been handed an 18-month intensive corrections order and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service after he was sentenced for charges including driving while disqualified. But the man, from Deniliquin near the New South Wales-Victoria border in Australia, was taken into custody for the assault, drug and firearm counts earlier this year.

It was his first time in custody, the court heard, and he experienced drug withdrawal while in prison. The Crown prosecution opposed his release, noting he was serving an intensive corrections order at the time of the alleged offences, but Judge Garling granted it.
