A paedophile teacher who had sex with two teenage boys gave one of her victims nine digits of her phone number before he correctly guessed the other two and called her in the middle of class.

Rebecca Joynes, 30, was today found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a child, including two while being a person in a position of trust, following a trial at Manchester Crown Court. She is due to be sentenced on July 4.

The jury heard Joynes was well thought of and liked by staff and students. But she used her position to groom boys. During one lesson, one of the victims - known only as Boy A, 15 - asked for Joynes' number. She went on to give him nine digits and he successfully guessed the remaining two.

"I didn't think he was going to try 100 different numbers and get my number," she remarked, according to the Manchester Evening News. She ignored the call, prompting Boy A to message her: “Are you going to ignore me then… I see how it is”.

Joynes then started to flirt with Boy A on Snapchat, an app where messages are deleted after 24 hours. The pair then started to exchange flirty messages with one another.

"I don’t like maths, get too distracted now,” he said. “It better had be from the work,” Joynes messaged.

“Of course Miss, what else would it be,” Boy A replied. “Good [emoji]”, she sent back. “Am I coming later or no?” he asked. “You better had come now you told me you are,” she said.

In another act of grooming, Joynes arranged to take Boy A to the Trafford Centre, a shopping centre in Manchester, where she went on to buy him a Gucci belt worth £345. Later, when joking about another pupil joining then, the boy said: "I had better be the only one.

"Obviously it's only you," she wrote back. Boy A said: "As it should be. Best student if you ask me." Joynes replied: "That's debateable."

Joynes then brought the teen back to her apartment in Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester, where they had sex. The teacher's campaign of abuse started to unravel when Boy A told friends what happened and a tip-off was made to advice service ChildLine.

When Boy A was pulled out of lessons, she enlisted the help of second victim Boy B - who she would later fall pregnant with - to help her wipe her phone. A police investigation was launched in October 2021.

She had sex with Boy B while on bail and was arrested for breaking its conditions. Joynes then spent five months in custody and gave birth to a girl in early 2024.
