Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has confirmed an imminent move to Newcastle is ‘news to him’ in a direct response to growing speculation.
The Gunners goalkeeper has an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium. He lost his place as Mikel Arteta ’s number one following the arrival of David Raya.
The situation could worsen next term, with the Spaniard set to be signed on a permanent deal following an initial loan move. That has left Ramsdale in a tricky position.
And now, it has been claimed that he could leave. Sky Sports have claimed that he has already agreed a move to join Premier League rivals Newcastle.
Elsewhere, The Telegraph have suggested that the Magpies are pursuing a £15m deal - a considerable loss on the £27m the Gunners spent to sign him from Sheffield United. He has now broken his silence and suggested the reports are wide of the mark.

Arteta has regularly been asked about Ramsdale’s future. Speaking last month, he suggested that he would be staying at the Emirates.

The Spaniard said: “A suggestion? There is a big reality that Aaron will be here because he is our player and has a contract.”
That admission came after Arteta had previously urged Ramsdale to think carefully about his future ahead of the January transfer window. He said: "We just want the best for our players and we try to do that, and we know the influence that we can have - sometimes positively, sometimes not so positively, towards them.
"This is a team sport that needs 24 players that have to fulfil a role. And the role that you have in August, it might be very different to the one you have in March.
"So making early decisions, in my experience, is not something good at all and as well because the team has certain needs that has to be accomplished. You need everyone and Aaron has a really important role in the team."
Since joining Arsenal three years ago, Ramsdale has gone on to make 89 appearances in all competitions, keeping 32 clean sheets. His minutes have dwindled this term though.
He has made just 11 appearances this season, only one of which came in the Champions League. Arsenal take on Everton on the final day of the season, with Raya likely to start once again.
