When Girls Aloud took to the stage to kick start their hugely anticipated UK tour, it wasn't just their iconic hit songs that sent fans into a frenzy - it was also their eye catching outfits.
And true to form Cheryl, 40, along with her band mates Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh didn't fail to impress. The Newcastle born singer sported a jaw-dropping sheer catsuit which proudly showed off her toned physique. The outfit was also accessorised with a feather detail at the bottom of the trousers, sewn in gloves and large grey gemstones around her neck and body suit, which added another layer of glamour to her look.
And the mum of one, also opted for longer brunette tresses which flowed in the wind as she sauntered up and down the stage, while belting out their memorable hit songs. The band gave their first performance in 11 years since their split 2013, when it was decided they wanted to take a break to pursue other solo ventures.
At the time, Nadine claimed she was left blindsided by the decision which left fans all over the country in utter shock. Posting a statement on X, she wrote: "You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going. Xxxx." But Cheryl hit back in an interview with Attitude magazine and accused Nadine of holding the band to ransom.
She said: "She was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus. She wants to come out and say we broke the band up? No! She shouldn’t tell porkie pies. Okay, so do you want us to tell the truth? She wasn’t going to make another Girls Aloud record until she got a solo deal. I feel she held us to ransom and then made her solo record deal. It’s the truth. She’s saying that we broke the band up. So there you go."
Coronation Street's Alexandra Mardell takes Aldi job after quitting ITV soapIn another segment of the show, the girls wore a black and silver ensemble and had the late Sarah Harding projected on to the screen behind them. Sarah tragically passed away after losing her battle to cancer in 2021. And once again the Fight For This Love star looked incredible in a black mini-skirt with silver panels either side and a pair of black knee-high boots. Nadine wore silver boots while Kimberley showcased her stunning frame in a black corset top. And Nicola wore a thigh-split wrap skirt.
In an interview with The Sun, it seems there was more of a personal reason behind the bands decision to embark on the reunion tour. Cheryl explained: "I think one of our driving forces is that our kids are going to see us on stage and think we’re actually cool. They’re going to see Mammy on stage!"
But another reason was that the group wanted to bring back happy memories to their fans. She continued: "I want us to bring back happy memories for people. I love listening to music that transports me to the way I felt at a different time, and I think Girls Aloud are that band for a lot of people." Kimberley continued: "I think I’m only realising now just how much our music means to people.I get so many different kinds of people approaching me to say our songs hold special memories for them."
