After a devastating end to the season, Arsenal's journey to next term is now underway.
The Gunners finished second in the Premier League once again and undoubtedly Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar will be back at the drawing board, plotting what needs to be done to overhaul Manchester City next term. A long summer is ahead with activity required in the transfer market, while Arsenal's stars will compete in EURO 2024 and the Copa America.
Already Arteta has his eye on winning the title as he urged supporters to not be sad. He said: "All this is happening because you started believing, you started to be patient and started to understand what we tried to do. All the credit has to go to the players and the staff. Don't be sad. We want much more than that and we’re going to get it."
With that said, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the news to emerge in the aftermath of the Premier League season.
Arteta's Bukayo Saka update
Bukayo Saka missed out on Arsenal's squad for their final day clash with Everton. Gunners boss Arteta revealed that the influential winger would be fine for England's EURO 2024 squad next month however.
Premier League odds and betting tipsThe Spaniard provided a simple 'yeah' when asked if the 22-year-old would be fit in time for the tournament in Germany. Ahead of the game, Arteta said Saka picked up the injury in training.
"Unfortunately he picked up a small muscle injury in training and he wasn't available to play," he told TNT Sports.
Kai Havertz promise
Kai Havertz echoed the words of his boss in suggesting would be back fighting next season to deliver a Premier League title. The German forward cast a downbeat figure despite his winning goal against Everton as Arsenal missed out to Man City for the second season in succession.
Havertz told TNT Sports: "I feel sorry for all the Arsenal fans, for us, we gave our best but it wasn’t enough. Maybe in two or three months, we can say, ‘It was a good fight’, but right now I feel like we deserved more. It wasn’t enough in the end, but we go again next year.
"Sometimes it’s not fair in football, but we have to accept it. Football is hard, but hopefully, we can go again next year and give the Arsenal fans what they need and what they’re all here for."
Sesko deadline
The attention of many will now turn to the transfer window as Arsenal look to go again next term. Signing a striker is on the agenda for the north London side and Benjamin Sesko is a name Arteta and co appear to be looking at.
Reports from Germany suggest that the RB Leipzig forward has seen a £55.9m release clause set with the close of the Bundesliga season. This figure was dependent on a number of performance-related factors. To take advantage of the Slovenia international's clause however, teams must act by the end of June it is said. Little time to waste.
