Sarah Jessica Parker, 59, says “fantastic” European beaches are her favourites as women sunbathe unconcerned by their appearance, which she finds “inspiring”.
The Sex and the City actress has recently been based in London, where she starred in West End show Plaza Suite, so hopefully she popped to Canvey Island in Essex or the Kent coast for a dose of inspiration from the beach-goers in this weekend’s sunshine.
The US star complains to pal Caroline Hirons on her new Glad We Had This Chat podcast of a “terrible” onus on women to feel like they should aspire to looking younger, which she says is better this side of the Atlantic.
SJP adds: “I travel to parts of Europe and I look at women and they don’t seem at all perturbed or concerned, or they’re just on the beach as all shapes and sizes. And I’m like... so fantastic.

“And the Spanish... it’s really refreshing... It’s inspiring. There’s things about being younger that I think I should have really enjoyed. Like the way an arm feels.
“But there’s nothing you can do about it, so I’m not going to spend a lot of time thinking, ‘I sure wish I was younger’.”
Especially not on the beach.
