Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Ruben Amorim and Kieran McKenna with uncertainty reigning over the future of Mauricio Pochettino, it has been claimed.

Pochettino, who took over at Stamford Bridge last summer, led the Blues to a sixth-place finish after recovering from a slow start. Chelsea lost just one of their last 15 matches, and finished the campaign with five wins on the bounce.

The last of those, a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, came with the help of a stunning halfway line goal from Moises Caicedo. It wasn't quite enough to ensure fifth place, though, thanks to Tottenham's win at Sheffield United.

Former Spurs boss Pochettino had dinner with owner Todd Boehly on Friday, and is set for further meetings with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart. If those result in him not staying beyond this season, though, contingency plans may well be in place.

According to the Evening Standard. Chelsea's owners have sounded out representatives for both Amorim and McKenna. The former is coming off a Primeira Liga title with Sporting CP, while the latter has just led Ipswich Town to a second successive promotion.

The same publication indicates Amorim interested the Chelsea board before Pochettino's appointment, when Graham Potter was still at the helm. He was also linked with Liverpool and West Ham, only to indicate a desire to stay with his current employers in Lisbon.

McKenna, a former Manchester United coach, is in his first senior managerial job at Portman Road. He has been linked with a return to Old Trafford after leading Ipswich to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.

“I don’t have an idea about this but I can tell you on Friday night Todd invited me for dinner and it was a very nice dinner," Pochettino said of his meeting with Boehly. "I don’t know about this review. My staff tomorrow is flying [on holiday], I’m staying a few more days in London and my phone is going to be on.

“I’m not going to talk about [the dinner] but if I invite you alone and we have a dinner, it's not for a bad thing. If I need to tell you something [bad], I say go for a coffee.”

Chelsea face a wait to learn whether they will spend next season vying for glory in the Europa League or Conference League. It will be the former unless Manchester United win the FA Cup, with Erik ten Hag's team taking on Manchester City at Wembley.
