A penny-pinching driver was pulled over by police after trying to bring a huge 60-inch wide television home in the back of his convertible car.
Hilarious photos show the massive flat-screen TV poking out of the drop-top VW after the motorist attempted to drive down the M60 yesterday (Sunday, May 20). Police who stopped the man on the major ring road around Manchester said he had ferried his purchase home as he 'didn't want to pay for delivery'.
And they were bemused by the thrifty shopper's excuse that his precious cargo had been safe because he was 'holding onto it' while driving. Officers from Greater Manchester Police said they had issued a PG9 notice, banning the motorist from driving the vehicle, and reported him.
A spokesperson from the force wrote on X: "The driver of this vehicle didn't want to pay for delivery so tried to transport his new 60" television home himself #M60. Apparently, there wasn't anything dangerous about his load carried because he "had hold of it."
Locals who spotted the pictures of the car were quick to make fun of the driver on social media. One joked: "It's like something you would see on TV." Another added: "He wanted to enjoy his favourite series but a random spoiler did for him." A further user chimed in: "He knows that his tele is now in safe hands now."
