At least 13 people were injured when two double decker buses collided in Rochdale Road, Manchester earlier this morning where police and ambulances are at the scene
More than a dozen people suffered injuries in a crash between two buses earlier this morning, leaving one person trapped on the upper deck who had to be rescued by fire crews.
Emergency services were called to Rochdale Road in Manchester’s city centre at around 8.30am. An air ambulance also landed in a nearby car park as the 17 injured people were tended do. Images showed damage to the rear of one, and the front of the other.
A spokesperson from North West Ambulance Service added: “Nine ambulances, an air ambulance, two response vehicles, an advanced paramedic, and an operational commander attended the scene following reports of a bus crash on Rochdale Road, Manchester, at 08.34.

“17 patients were taken to hospitals across Manchester, including seven on a bus accompanied by a paramedic. No one suffered serious injuries.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) added: “At around 8.45am this morning (Saturday 9 November), two fire engines from Phillips Park and Broughton fire stations were called to a crash involving two buses on Rochdale Road, Manchester. Crews arrived quickly and worked with Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.

"Firefighters extricated one person from the upper deck of the bus and 13 casualties were transferred to North Manchester General Hospital under the care of North West Ambulance Service. Fire crews were in attendance for just over an hour."
Transport for Greater Manchester’s director of bus, Stephen Rhodes, told Manchester Evening News: “This morning at around 8.30am there was a collision involving two Bee Network buses in Manchester near the junction of Rochdale Road and Livesey Street.

"We are liaising with emergency services and want to wish any passengers who have been injured a speedy recovery. The road is currently closed and buses in the area are being diverted.
