Simone Biles is once again stepping up to defend her husband, Jonathan Owens.

On Instagram, Biles shared a touching two-photo carousel on her personal account showing her and Owens together before her competition at the 2024 Core Hydration Gymnastics Classic. She captioned it: "My whole heart ... the best supporter, I couldn't ask for a better husband," complete with a heart emoji.

Despite the sweet post, one fan's comment, "I still don't know his name lol," managed to rack up over 1,000 likes. This has sparked concern among other followers who have noticed that the negative remarks are impacting the four-time Olympic gold medalist, prompting calls for more sensitivity towards Owens.

One commenter reflected a change in sentiment, saying: "OK guys, I was on the bandwagon about talking trash about her husband. But at this point, Simone has made it clear that our comments are hurting her. We love Simone and want to support her, so let's be kind unless she directs us otherwise," which received over 4,500 likes.

Biles herself seems to have reached her limit with the negativity directed at Owens, as evidenced by a direct message she posted on her Instagram stories. "I'm going to quickly address this, the joke was never a joke! " she stated.

"Y'all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship and my husband. So I'm gonna go ahead and say this one time.

"Respectfully, f*** off. and if you keep commenting or tweeting at me I'm going to block you. simple as that. and no I don't need to touch grass or whatever y'all suggest ... Everyone else that supports us, we love y'all so much."

The backlash against Owens started when he admitted on "The Pivot" podcast in December 2023 that he didn't know who Biles was when they first met, despite her being a celebrated Olympic gold medalist and the most decorated gymnast ever. Owens even claimed he was "the catch" in the relationship, sparking a flood of criticism.

"I always say the men are the catch," Owens explained to co-host Ryan Clark, reflecting on the overwhelming attention Biles gets whenever they're out together. This comment has since attracted a barrage of negative reactions, prompting both Owens and Biles to respond to their critics frequently.

While Owens often brushes off the remarks from Biles' fans, Biles herself takes a more straightforward approach to dealing with her followers. She regularly urges them on social media to calm down and consider their words, highlighting the impact they have on her.

In late 2023, overwhelmed by the constant buzz about her relationship, Biles urged her followers on social media to stop involving her in discussions about her and her husband, punctuating her plea with 14 laughing emojis to lighten the tone but making her stance quite clear.

"STOP BRINGING ME UP," Biles posted on her Instagram story, adding: "Work on that for the new year."
