A teenager has confessed to murdering his mother, father, and sister in a rage after his parents took his mobile phone away from him.

Police officer Isac Tavares Santos, 57, was shot dead with his gun before the same weapon was used against Leticia Gomes Santos when she heard a commotion in the kitchen and went to investigate. The 16-year-old being held in custody reportedly confessed to cops after handing himself in that he went to school as normal and then waited for his mum Solange Aparecida Gomes, 50, when he returned home before shooting her as she walked in the front door.

The trio's decomposing bodies were found at their home after the couple's son, an adopted child, phoned police to confess his crimes late on Sunday night. They had been lying dead for more than two days at the property in Vila Jaguara in the Brazilian city of São Paulo.

Their self-confessed killer, who has not been named, is said to have told police in a statement he planned their deaths the day before the sickening crimes - after his parents insulted him and left him unable to use his phone for a school presentation after taking it off him. As well as going to school as if nothing had happened after shooting two of his alleged victims, the youngster also went to buy bread and over the weekend used the gym he frequented as part of a normal routine according to local reports.

The boy's dad worked as a police officer in Jundiai north of Sao Paulo in the local council’s forestry division. A colleague said in an online tribute yesterday: "With deep regret, we mourn the tragic loss of Jundiaí Municipal Guard Isac Tavares Santos, his wife and their adopted daughter.

"Isac was a dedicated public servant, always committed to the safety and well-being of our community. His departure leaves a huge void among his colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. At this time of pain and mourning, we express our solidarity and condolences to his family and friends. May God comfort the hearts of all who suffer this irreparable loss. Rest in peace, Isac. Your legacy of service and dedication will never be forgotten."

In February two children were held in northern Spain after their adoptive mum was found dead and "gagged with a bag over her head" on the back seat of her car. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and remanded to a young offenders' institution for at least six months while he continues to be investigated over the death of churchgoer Silvia Lopez Gayubas at her home in Castro Urdiales near the port city of Santander.

A 13-year-old who officials admitted at the time was below the age of criminal responsibility in Spain and cannot be prosecuted, was not formally arrested but was instead identified and admitted to a children's home. The youngsters, born in Russia and brought to Spain as young children, were intercepted in a park near their home after a police search for them following the discovery of the victim’s body in her crashed car in an underground garage.

She is believed to have been killed in the vehicle and is said to have suffered a stab wound to the neck as well as injuries caused by violent blows. Initial reports said her body had been discovered in the boot of her car, but local media subsequently reported she was in the back seat, had been gagged and had a rubbish bag placed over her head. The boys' gran had called the emergency services after the youngsters phoned her to say they were being "kidnapped" in an alleged attempt to try to buy themselves time and cover up what had happened.
