A young woman screamed "help me, help me, I'm losing blood" after a man allegedly stabbed her outside a primary school.
It's understood the victim, who is in her 20s, was attacked as she dropped off her kids at Beech Hill Primary School in Luton, Bedfordshire on Tuesday morning before being chased down the street.
Emergency services raced the woman to hospital with serious injuries. It is now thought she is in a "stable" condition, though still in hospital.
A man who was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder. He appeared in court today and admitted attempted murder. A forensic tent was set up as officers cordoned off the area to begin their investigation, which continues in the area.
In its latest statement, a spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said: "A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman near a school in Luton.

"He appeared at Luton Magistrates’ court today (Wednesday) and he has been remanded in custody pending a further hearing at Luton Crown Court on 24 June. Officers will continue with high-visibility patrols in the area for community engagement and reassurance in the wake of the incident."
A police spokesman had said on Tuesday: "Bedfordshire Police is investigating the stabbing of a woman near a school in Dunstable Road, Luton shortly after 8.30am this morning.
"The victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. One man has been arrested and is currently in police custody. All children are safe within the school and there is no wider threat to the public. Police will maintain a strong presence in the area for reassurance."
A spokesperson for the school said: "Bedfordshire Police is investigating the stabbing of a woman near the school in Dunstable Road. Following the incident, the school was on lockdown for approximately one hour, purely as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and staff. Parents have been advised of the incident and emotional support is available to all children and staff who may require it."
