A 'broken' bride-to-be has admitted she’s been left ‘fuming’ after the ‘selfish’ actions of one of her bridesmaids have left her considering whether to disinvite her from the Big Day.

After revealing she had asked her sister to be one of her bridesmaids, along with three other friends she had known since she was 13 years old, she said: “We've been in each other's lives a long time and have been good friends. All my bridesmaids have been wonderfully supportive and easy to plan my wedding with, except for one.”

Referring to her as 'Rachel', she told how her friend had admitted to feeling lost while all her friends were settling down and having babies, and while she had tried to be there for her, her behaviour towards her while she was planning the happiest day of her life, had left her reeling.

She said: "A couple of years ago when I expressed how excited I was for my fiancé to propose, she called me 'insecure and annoying' which was extremely hurtful and I let her know this. She apologised, but looking back it was not sincere as her behaviour worsened. This should have been my first red flag.”

Fast forward to wedding planning and the bride-to-be admitted her friend had questioned every decision she was making, leaving her questioning whether she should be disinvited entirely: “She has somehow managed to make me feel bad about every plan I've shared with her. She said she needs some 'space' from me as she is going through a lot in her personal life, and is getting 'stressed' out hearing about my wedding plans. Keep in mind I have not asked her to help with ANYTHING and she has let me know she feels like weddings 'ruin friendships’."

After admitting the friends had barely spoken in the last few months, she said she was left ‘blindsided’ after recently seeing her friend on social media attending an overseas wedding: “It looked like she had a blast,” she said.

She had also discovered that she wasn’t attending her hen do: “She didn’t even share with me that she wasn’t coming. I had to find out from one of my other bridesmaids.”

She went on to say that she was having a hard time reconciling with the situation as she was one of her oldest friends: “I get that she is going through a lot, but to me it's an explanation for the way she has been treating me, not an excuse.”

She continued: “She is supposed to be there for what is going to be one of the happiest times of my life. Now I deeply regret including her as a bridesmaid. I fear that this is also the end of our friendship. I have asked her to do nothing besides be a supportive friend.”

After taking her pre-wedding woe to Reddit she asked readers if she should disinvite her friend from the wedding, and was met with a huge amount of support: “Oooo cut her out ASAP or she’s gonna start causing fights amongst other members of the wedding party,” said one, while another commented: “You want people standing next to you that will support you and lift you up, not make the day about them and moping in a corner.”

One reader said: “You guys are 30, and she’s acting like she never grew past 13. Cut her off for your own sanity,” while another told of their own wedding party problems: “Get rid of her. My sister-in-law caused stress like this during my wedding. I wish I’d kicked her out so badly. She was a nightmare on the day. It was all jealousy because it wasn’t her getting married.”

“Do yourself a favour and don’t even have her as a guest.”
