APPLE recently announced a huge bunch of new features coming to iPhone later this year.

Among all the fanfare around huge AI upgrades with ChatGPT coming to Siri, many missed some small but significant announcements.

And one such change is coming to Apple's emergency SOS tool.

Currently, the feature works like any other call except you can activate it by pressing and holding the side button and one of the volume buttons.

But when iOS 18 lands later this year, emergency SOS will receive a big upgrade that could be even more of a life-saver.

Apple is adding live video to emergency SOS, so users can give greater detail about their situation to a responder.

"In the middle of an emergency call, participating emergency dispatchers can send a request for a user to share live video or media from the user’s camera roll over a secure connection, making it easier and faster to get help," Apple explains.

It will be among a huge list of fancy new features coming to millions of iPhones later this year.

iOS updates usually land around the autumn time.

Front and centre of the tech giant's big announcements last week was the launch of Apple Intelligence, the company's take on AI.

It will be pumped into Siri.

The voice assistant is set to become more natural to use, knowing greater about what you're doing on your phone, and can interact with apps like never before.

It'll tap into ChatGPT to provide you answers to your questions.

Apple's move gives rivals Google and Microsoft – both of which have their own AI chatbots – more competition.

Siri will also be able to prioritise your notifications for you based on your habits.
