Dancer Giovanni Pernice says that allegations about his conduct on Strictly Come Dancing “are simply false”.
After reports claimed that he grabbed his crotch in rehearsals, he yesterday said he is looking forward to “clearing my name”.
He said: “I have always rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour. The latest accusations are simply false. I am co-operating fully with the BBC investigation, which will determine the truth. I am looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation and ultimately clearing my name.”
Giovanni, 33, is on tour with dancer pal Anton Du Beke. He will not return for the next Strictly series. Actress Amanda Abbington, 52, his partner last year, pulled out of the series for personal reasons.
She has since claimed she was left with mild PTSD because of the dancer’s behaviour. A legal firm acting on behalf of the complainants said that the broadcaster is gathering evidence.
