After a six month absence from public life, Kate Middleton delighted royal fans around the globe on the eve of this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony when she shared a new update on her health amid her ongoing cancer battle. The 42 year old Princess of Wales, released a statement on Instagram to inform fans she was “making good progress” alongside a stunning new photo which featured the senior royal posing beneath a tree.

Dressed in a chic pair of tailored jeans, a smart blazer and t-shirt, Kate looked to be in good spirits as she stared off into the distance, with her hair tucked behind her ear to reveal a pair of simple Annoushka pearl earrings. Elegant and understated, the pearl drops are a regular feature of the Princess’ wardrobe and have been worn on multiple occasions since 2012.

Interestingly, for the Trooping the Colour ceremony the following day when Kate joined her family on the royal balcony to celebrate King Charles’ ‘official’ birthday, once again the stylish royal opted to wear another pair of pearl earrings — and for one very poignant reason.

that carry subtle significance and hidden meanings, with many of her most beloved items designed to honour a certain cause, place or person. In the case of Kate’s choice to wear pearls, it is likely that the royal opted for them due to their historic connotations amid her ongoing health battle with an undisclosed form of cancer.

The humble pearl, which was also previously adored by the late Princess Diana, features in several key pieces of royal jewellery and in many cultures is often associated with bringing a wearer good luck, something Kate will no doubt need during her recovery. In addition, jewellers at Marahlago, explained that pearls are also “seen as a symbol of turning something negative into something positive.”

The delicate pearl is also thought to symbolise, love, good health, luck, and prosperity, and could be Kate’s way of manifesting a speedy recovery from her illness.

The Princess of Wales offered an insight into her recovery last week, when she took to social media to thank fans for their messages of support, writing: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said in her statement on Friday. “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.”
