We have so much to be grateful for .

"We’re also so grateful to still have my amazing dad in our lives and Derek’s dad too . Brilliant Papa & Grandad . Then thanks to my fab @global family we went to the #capitalsummertimeball - an amazing day of music & summer joy. It was sad coming home & not findinv Derek waiting to hear “all about it” as he used to say. But so wonderful that we had him at all. I know for so many yesterday would have been a tough day so here’s to getting through and let’s celebrate all the wonderful fathers & father figures & what they gift us everyday . #love #gratitude #letscelebratelife."

Alongside the message, Kate shared photos of her father and Derek's dad as she thanked the "brilliant papa and grandad". Following her poignant post, the mum -of-two was wished well by her legion of loyal fans with many telling Kate how strong she was. Her famous friend and ITV co-star, Lorraine Kelly, replied: "Beautiful words and what a gorgeous photo." Meanwhile, Kate's GMB colleague, Charlotte Hawkins, wrote: "Lots of love to you," with a red heart emoji. Elsewhere, another fan said: "Well done Kate. Your strength amazes me."

Taking to her Instagram page, an emotional Kate penned: The next are three fabulous total surprises - >>> gorgeous chocolates & flowers from @susannareid100, a basket of goodies from the @gmb gang, a fabulous wrap dress literally left on my doorstep as she "thought I might need cheering up" by my mate @toniabuxton."

She continued: "And the last is the most personal & kind embroidered collar- you know how I love my crazy collars! - from @lisamejuto. Lisa is a makeup artist at @gmb & she’s gorgeous to everyone & fab at her job & we’ve laughed our heads off together over the years.

"But today when she gave me this out of the blue at 4 in the morning I burst into tears. The hard work & effort - carefully hand-sewing symbols that she knows mean so much - including Darcey, Bill & Derek’s initials, shows so much painstaking love. The picture really doesn’t do it justice. Am now lying in bed feeling like the luckiest person in the world to have so many good people around me."
