Pitbull savages man in horrific attack in as armed police swoop in

A young man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an incident involving a dog.

The 24-year-old man was injured at around 7am at an address in Aberavon, near Port Talbot in south Wales. Police, who are investigating the horror, removed a dog, believed to be a pitbull or Staffordshire bull terrier, from the scene. It is understood the canine has since been sedated.

A spokesman for South Wales Constabulary said: "Officers attended Blair Way, Aberavon at around 7am this morning (Monday June 17) following a report of an incident involving a man and a dog.

"A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital by Air Ambulance with serious injuries. The dog has been sedated and removed from the scene by Police Dog units. Our investigation is ongoing."

The nature and extent of the man's injuries are not yet known. Investigations are continuing after armed police were sent to the scene. The area has not been cleared and roads have not yet re-opened.

There was a high police presence in the area, including armed police, just around 7am and the public were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

The air ambulance landed at the scene to provide support and the Welsh Ambulance Trust has confirmed that one person was taken to hospital.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson has confirmation that one person has been taken to hospital after the incident. The air amublance was also sent to the scene for support.

They said: “We were called on today at 7:14am to reports of an incident at Nobel Avenue, Port Talbot. We sent one emergency ambulance to the scene.

“Advanced critical care support was delivered by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service in a Wales Air Ambulance charity helicopter. One person was taken by road to hospital.”

It comes after an eight-year-old boy was left traumatised after needing 30 stitches on his face following a savage dog attack . Joe Flynn, 58, said his son, Jackson, is 'lucky to be alive' after his head was grabbed by a dog and locked inside the animal’s jaws on May 29 in Limerick in Ireland. The dad said he was prompted to go public about the attack after the death nearby of Nicole Morey, 23, on June 4, who was mauled to death by a dog on her birthday.
