Tyson Fury suffers rankings blow as he drops below Joshua after Usyk loss

Tyson Fury has been placed below his bitter rival Anthony Joshua in the latest WBC heavyweight rankings.

'AJ' is at the top of the pecking order in the organisation's latest top-40 whilst Fury finds himself at No.2 after his undisputed loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua has won four consecutive fights since losing his belts to Usyk and did what Fury couldn't by KO'ing former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in just five minutes.

Agit Kabayel is third in the rankings after he impressively stopped Frank Sanchez on the undercard of Fury's loss to Usyk. Zhilei Zhang is at number four after his KO win against Deontay Wilder whilst Efe Ajagba is fifth. Joe Joyce is the only other Brit inside the top-10 and Fabio Wardley is ranked just outside at number 11.

Fury was expected to fight Usyk again in October but their rematch will take place on December 21. The Brit was in good spirits during a recent training video as he said: "Listen up! I’ve conquered everything in boxing – titles, records, the lot. But I’ve never had to come back from a loss. Oleksandr Usyk, I’m coming for you! Get ready for the Gypsy King!

"The path to redemption is all mine. I know what I have to do, I saw my shortcomings and best believe I am inevitable." Fury then added: "I'm back in the gym as you can see, counting down the days until I get my redemption on Usyk. December 21 is going to be my time. I've done everything in boxing but I haven't come back from a loss. This is my chance to come back and redeem myself."

Former two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua will look to continue his impressive win streak and capture another world title later this year when he fights Daniel Dubois in his UK return. Oleksandr Usyk is expected to be stripped of his IBF belt so it can be on the line for Joshua and Dubois' fight at Wembley Stadium.

'AJ' is hoping a win against Dubois will set up an undisputed heavyweight world title fight against Fury or Usyk. Joshua's plan of fighting for all four heavyweight world titles could be ruined by Usyk's plan to move back to cruiserweight after his rematch against Fury.
