Lisa Armstrong's cryptic social media posts about “facing silent battles” are written in support of Giovanni Pernice, sources have claimed. The Strictly make up artist, 47, has posted a series of Instagram stories in recent weeks in which she spoke about “celebrating your strength" and later added "behavior (sic) never lies. ”
And while the posts were interpreted as her response to ex-husband Ant McPartlin, 33, welcoming his first child with wife Anne-Marie, inside sources say she was actually voicing her support for under fire pal Giovanni. One said: “Lisa is close to Giovanni and couldn’t help but speak up - albeit in a very cryptic way. It mattered to her that she didn’t just sit there and say nothing amid the firestorm he is going through at the moment. She is a very loyal person and to look the other way really isn't in her nature."
Lisa - who has been the show’s head make up artist for many years - posted a picture on her Instagram stories last Tuesday with the words: "Be proud of the way you've been handling the past few months, the silent battles you've fought, the moments you had to humble yourself, the times you've wiped your own tears. Celebrate your strength." And on Tuesday she posted a quote from Winston Churchill in the same format, writing: "I no longer listen to what people say, I watch what they do. Behavior never lies."
Giovanni has faced a wave of accusations of "abuse" over his alleged tough teaching style with past celebrity partners - including Amanda Abbington, who left the show last year citing a "medical issues." She is one of three former contestants who have reportedly come together to launch legal action following his conduct on the show. BBC bosses are now said to have launched an investigation, and are combing through nine years of training footage of the Italian.
Earlier this week the professional dancer issued his own statement on Instagram, in which he wrote: "To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name." Long term pal Lisa then liked the post.
