The Premier League fixtures are finally out – and Manchester City will face a ruthless run of games that could decide the Premier League title race.

The fixture list for the 2024/2025 season has shown where the title could be won or lost, with City facing Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Spurs all in the space of just four weeks. The defending champions will also face a stern test on the opening day of the season when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18 – with the Blues eager to impress under new man Enzo Maresca, who knows Pep Guardiola well from their time working together.

City's deadly looking run of games shouldn't deter Guardiola too much with the City boss defying all the odds to lead his club to a historic fourth title in a row last season. However, the cruel spell, which will take place from the end of January to the end of February next year, will pose some awkward questions.

Beginning on January 25, City will face Chelsea at home. On February 1, they will then face an away trip to Arsenal followed by a home clash with Newcastle on February 15. February 22 will see City host Liverpool before they take a trip to north London to face Spurs on February 25.

City will be mindful of their performances in the same fixtures last season with Guardiola's side failing to beat Liverpool home and away. They also struggled against Arsenal in both Premier League fixtures and, although they did beat neighbours United in the league, they did lose out on the FA Cup to Erik ten Hag's side back in May.

The perilous run will also overlap with the new-look Champions League, which will have its final two matchdays in January and its knockout round play-offs from February 11-19, meaning there could well be some unwelcome fixture congestion for those competing on both fronts.

The opening day for the new season will see City's rivals Arsenal and Manchester United begin at home against Wolves and Fulham respectively, while Liverpool will start their campaign under new head coach Arne Slot away to Ipswich in the early kick-off on Saturday. Other key dates such as Boxing Day will see City host Everton, while Guardiola's side will wrap up the 2024/2025 campaign with an away clash at Fulham.

The winter gauntlet isn't the only tricky run of fixtures City will have to keep an eye on. The champions will travel to Tottenham and then face Liverpool away either side of matchday four, while the two Manchester derbies with United are set to take place on on December 14 at the Etihad and then on April 5 at Old Trafford, with the away tie coming just eight matches before the end of the season and directly before the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

There is the added caveat of there being no winter break in the Premier League this season, which allows more recovery time for teams and players after Euro 2024. It'll also mean it will be full steam ahead during what promises to be a crunch time for City. This season will see some new faces back in the Premier League with Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United all having dropped straight back down to the Championship last season.

Leicester City and Southampton have returned immediately, while Ipswich Town are the other promoted team who have returned to the top-flight after more than two decades away. City will face the Foxes away in December and at home in April.

They will face Southampton at home in October with the reverse fixture coming in May, while a trip to Portman Road to face Kieran McKenna's Ipswich will take place just before the tough run of fixtures in January and they will then host the Tractor Boys just the second game in.
