HERE WE GO!
Premier League fixtures in full.
An interesting season is sure to lie ahead.
Who will claim first fixture of the season? Will it be a newly-promoted side once again?
Don't look away now!
The Premier League state: "The mid-season break has also been removed from the calendar to allow a mid-August start date for the Premier League."
The countdown is well and truly on. Just 25 minutes to go until the Premier League path of all 20 teams is released.
Well, outside of broadcast changes and rearranged matches and all of that other stuff.
While team's get their season's underway in August, and fixtures get released today, the work begins much sooner. It's all six months in the making.
Atos' Thompson explains all once again: "For me it is at the start of the year when I get the playing dates from the Premier League. The whole thing is built up, putting in the international dates from FIFA, then the European club competitions. Then the Football Association adds the dates for its competitions. You’re left with the dates when you can play league and League Cup matches.
"We also consult fan representatives, from the Football Supporters' Federation, and other stakeholders, to take on board their views.
"Around March, the Premier League sends to its clubs a form asking questions such as whether there are there any dates they wish not to be at home - which is answered in conjunction with the local police - and whether there are any teams they do not wish to play at home on Boxing Day. "
Plenty of anctipation to come over the next 60 minutes. The likes of Arne Slot, Enzo Maresca, Russell Martin and Kieran McKenna will all soon discover who their first Premier League match in management will come against.
The Premier League, the Football League and Atos will review the fixtures over a number of days and look at every date to ensure that they have met the conditions they are tasked with - where possible.
If issues arise during a review, the computer system will offer alternative dates for a fixture. It is said, changing one match could possibly change up to 40 other fixtures.
It'd be easy to think not, especially with some rearranged matches as the season goes on. At least before broadcast decisions are made, it does appear to come into the thinking.
Back to Thompson.
"Yes. We look at whether we have clubs from the same area travelling on the same train lines across the Football League and the Premier League on the same day. We want to avoid having "pinch points" on the rail and road network. We also tell the computer to try to minimise travel on Boxing Day and New Year's Day or an equivalent date."
Fixture-list compiler Glenn Thompson, of Atos, explains some of the factors which need to be taken into account.
"In any five matches there should be a split of three home fixtures, two away or the other way around. A team will never have more than two home or away matches in a row, and, wherever possible, you will be home and away around FA Cup ties.
"A club will never start or finish the season with two home or two away matches because it would be unfair for a team to finish with two aways,
"Around the Christmas period, if you are at home on Boxing Day you will be away on New Year's Day or an equivalent date. We also try to maintain a Saturday home-away sequence throughout the season wherever possible."
While most will hope to avoid Man City on their way to a stronger start in the Premier League, traditionally Chelsea and Manchester United are the teams to stay away from on opening day.
The Blues have won 20 of 32 outings, while United go one better at 32 wins but have lost seven times compared to Chelsea's five. Nottingham Forest and Brighton have completed fewer opening weekends but have each won four of their seven matches. Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City still records wins over 50 per cent of the time too. The Reds and Gunners have 18 wins in 32 outings, while Man City have earned 15 wins in 27.
Everything will kick off on August 17, so for the moment the Premier League will begin on a Saturday. Last year saw Burnley host Man City on a Friday evening as Championship winners took on Premier League champions.
The final day of the season will be May 25 when, of course, all games take place at the same time. We can only hope that there is plenty on the line at the point.
There will be no December 24th fixture in 2024. Chelsea made the trip to Wolves in a controversial move last term.
In a bid to tackle fixture congestion, the Premier League say 'arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match'.
Well, each team will play each other twice over a 38-game season...
Nevertheless it's always fun to see which games are first, last, are held on boxing day and when the biggest derbies are. Though, it barely feels as if last season ended.
A very exciting day for the promoted teams too.
We will have the full release at 9am.
