One of the UK’s most picturesque beaches which people say looks 'like the Amalfi coast' is getting a new restaurant.

Blackpool Sands in South Devon, which is considered by some to be the UK's 'most picturesque beach' is privately owned by the Newman family, who joined forces with local hoteliers Charlie and Zuzanna Deuchar last year to create a new visitor experience at the beach, with their restaurant, cafe and lounge.

There was already a popular takeaway on the beach, but now people will have the choice to embark on a luxury dining experience while taking in the stunning oceanic views.

The restaurant features a menu of locally sourced food, including Blackpool Sands seafood Thali, classic fish and chips, and Dartmouth crab.

Discussing the new menu, head chef Sam Evans said: "We are thrilled to bring this new dining experience to Blackpool Sands. Our suppliers are our friends, and supporting each other showcases what we can achieve in Devon."

Charlie Deuchar, operations manager at Blackpool Sands, shared his vision: "We aimed to create the ultimate beachside dining experience in South Devon.

"Our design journey focused on blending natural elements with modern comfort, ensuring that every visitor feels connected to the stunning surroundings while enjoying exceptional food and ambience."

Sir Geoffrey Newman added: "We’re delighted to have the restaurant open once again to provide an incredible experience for visitors. They can relax in a beautiful setting, enjoy staggering views, and savour superb food. This project is also testament to our dedication to sustainability and the local community."

Alongside the new dining experience, Black Sands also has Kayaks and Paddleboards available for hire. There is also a seaside sauna, which costs £15 and can be booked in advance.

The restaurant is open 9am - 5pm, and 9am - 6pm on weekends. For more information please visit www.blackpoolsands.co.uk.
