Peter Andre has shared his devastation over TV doctor Michael Mosley's death.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker, 51, paid tribute to Dr Mosley, who tragically died aged 67 while he was holidaying with his wife Dr Clare Bailey on the Greek island of Symi earlier this month. He was reported missing after setting off on a walk at 1.30pm on Wednesday June 5 before he was found days later on the Sunday near Agia Marina beach.
Dr Mosley was known for his television and radio programmes where he would share to improve health. Peter has revealed he worked with Dr Mosley for a groundbreaking experiment in 2019. He joined a host of other celebrities who were tasked with undergoing an extreme junk food eating regime.
Following Dr Mosley's death, Peter said: "I was so sad to hear about the passing of Dr Michael Mosley - he was such a lovely man. I worked with Michael on The Junk Food Experiment and he couldn't have been nicer to me." Writing in his New! column, Peter added: "What happened to him is devastating and so shocking. I really feel for his family and can't begin to imagine how his wife and children are feeling. My thoughts and love go out to them."
Peter appeared on the show alongside The Chase's Shaun Wallace, former MP Nadine Dorries, Made In Chelsea's Hugo Taylor, Coronation Street actress Hayley Tammadon and Olympian Tessa Sanderson. Dr Mosley once explained: "For The Junk Food Experiment we asked six famous faces to confine themselves to eating Britain’s three favourite takeaway foods — pizza, fried chicken and burgers — for three weeks to see which (if any) had the biggest impact."
Peter Andre shares pride as children Princess & Junior make major career stepsSearch crews spent nearly four days looking for Dr Mosley before he was discovered behind a wall just feet away from a resort on Agia Marina beach. A post-mortem examination later revealed he had died at around 4pm on Wednesday of natural causes, with no initial signs of injury. Separate toxicology and histology reports have now been ordered.
Dr Clare Bailey Mosley confirmed that her husband has been found dead, adding that the news was "devastating". A statement from Dr Bailey Mosley confirming the death of her husband read: "I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It's devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together. I am incredibly proud of our children, their resilience and support over the past days.
"My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you. We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.
"Michael was an adventurous man, it's part of what made him so special. We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him. Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked. We’re also very grateful to the press who have dealt with us with great respect. I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all."
