Justin Timberlake is facing the music after Britney Spears fans dug up a clip in which he seems to hit out at his ex-girlfriend, telling her to "stop drinking" and "being sloppy".
The clip resurfaced following his own DWI arrest. Post the Cry Me A River superstar's arrest on June 18 for driving while intoxicated, Spears' followers wasted no time in resurrecting an old video where Timberlake appears to hint at her.
The salvaged footage from 2007 focuses on a youthful Timberlake casting aspersions on Britney for her contentious behaviour and advising her to stay sober.

In the unearthed excerpt showing Timberlake accepting his Brit Award, a pre-recorded message delivers: "Stop drinking. You know who you are, I'm speaking to you. Stop drinking, you're gonna get sloppy, OK is gonna say something bad about you."
But after the torrent of backlash from Spears' fans, Timberlake asserted that he wasn't aiming those words at his former flame but making a sweeping generalisation during his speech. Back then, in an interview with GQ, he clarified that he was "referencing people in the crowd, no one in particular."
On X, previously known as Twitter, one user commented: "And 17 years later, it ended up being him eating his own words, you reap what you sow." Another added with a hint of irony: "That didn't age too well."
Another chimed in with a reflection on the past drama: "Can't help but think about the drama that went down back in the day. JT and Britney, two pop stars at the height of their power, and then...well, we all know what happened. It's crazy to think that JT ended up eating his own words, literally and figuratively. Karma can be a real."
Spears also seemingly took aim at her ex in a cryptic social media post. Taking to Instagram as her ex-boyfriend's mugshot circulated online, Britney shared a snap of a fruity looking cocktail and mysteriously told her followers: "It's the little things you know [flower emojis]." Like with many of Britney's posts, the ability to comment underneath the upload has been disabled.
