This year’s much-anticipated Royal Ascot is officially underway, and the first day of the racing event didn’t disappoint when it came to the guest list – or the outfits. Amongst the Royals spotted at the event was Zara Tindall, who as an avid equestrian is almost always present at the event.
This year, Zara opted to wear the perfect summery hue for the occasion, donning a buttercup yellow midi dress, with a tailored fit, organza puff sleeves and a flattering belt around the middle. She styled her dress with a straw hat fascinator and a Sauvereign Aphrodite Clutch with white pumps - the perfect summer occasion 'fit.
To get Zara's look, the Puff Sleeve Twist Front Maxi Dress With Sheer Panel Skirt, (was £99), from Coast is the perfect pick for summer events, and we’ve found an affordable £90 version that we’ll definitely be wearing to our next summer wedding.
The Coast dress mimics the flattering fitted bodice and oversized puff sleeves of Zara’s dress, creating a flattering silhouette that suits all body types. The oversized sleeves add just the right amount of drama, whilst the subtle lemon yellow colourkeeps it understated and classy – perfect for a day at the races or a sunny wedding.
Although Zara’s dress has a sheer organza panel across the chest and sheer sleeves, the Coast dress instead opts for a sheer panel on the midi length skirt. This allows the dress to stay modest and appropriate for formal occasions, whilst still giving a flash of skin and keeping you cool and breezy in the warmer weather.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekIts twisted bodice also creates the illusion of curves and allows the form-fitting body to merge perfectly with the floaty skirt for a dress that’s both flattering and comfortable to wear. You can currently snap up the dress with 10% off in Coast’s sale, with sizes 10-18 available. The dress is also available in black, if you’re looking for a more timeless, evening-ready outfit.
We also spotted some other gorgeous options over at Karen Millen, with the Silk Cotton Trailing Floral Puff Sleeve Midi Dress, (was £229), particularly catching our eye. Made from a mixture of pure silk and cotton, the fabric is the perfect pick for hot, humid weather thanks to its lightweight, breezy material.
It also features a yellow and white pattern that’s not dissimilar to Zara’s Ascot dress, with oversized puff sleeves giving it a similar vibe to the Royal’s race day look. The Karen Millen dress however has a subtle V-neckline with a button up front, a fitted waistline and a flared lightly pleated skirt that gives it plenty of movement. It also has a gorgeous oversized bow tie detail at the back that allows you to cinch the waist as much as you want to create a flattering fit.
